Job Summary:
The King's Christian seeks a dedicated and experienced High School Science Teacher and Head of the Science Department to join our academic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality science instruction, fostering a positive learning environment, and leading the Science Department in curriculum development, instructional strategies, and professional development. Additionally, the candidate will ensure that the curriculum aligns with the school's Christian values and educational standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching:
- Develop and implement engaging and effective lesson plans that align with state and national standards.
- Teach a range of science subjects, including but not limited to biology, chemistry, Anatomy and Physiology, and Physics.
- Utilize various teaching methods and instructional technologies to enhance student learning.
- Assess and evaluate student performance, providing constructive feedback and support.
- Foster a classroom environment conducive to learning, encouraging student participation and critical thinking.
- Ensure that the science curriculum integrates and upholds the school's Christian values.
Department Leadership:
- Lead the Science Department in setting goals, developing curriculum, and implementing best practices.
- Oversee the development and integration of innovative teaching strategies and resources.
- Coordinate and facilitate department meetings, professional development sessions, and collaborative planning.
- Mentor and support science teachers, promoting continuous improvement and professional growth.
- Ensure all departmental initiatives align with the school's educational standards and Christian values.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with other departments to promote interdisciplinary learning opportunities.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators.
- Participate in school-wide initiatives, committees, and events.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Science Education, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Valid Maryland teaching certification is preferred.
- ACSI teaching certification preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years of teaching experience at the high school level preferred.
- Proven experience in a leadership role within an educational setting.
- Strong knowledge of current science curriculum standards and instructional best practices.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong understanding and support of Christian values and the ability to integrate these into the curriculum.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,914.00 per year
