What are the responsibilities and job description for the Food Services Assistant position at The King's Daughters' School?
We are a private, year-round residential school for students with intellectual disabilities and autism located in Columbia, TN.
Position is full-time Mon-Fri-6:30am-2pm. Food Services Assistants work in the school cafeteria preparing and serving meals. Starting pay is $14.21/hr.
Minimum qualifications
- At least 18 years old
- High school diploma or GED required
- Valid Driver's license preferred
- Successful completion of pre-employment background screens (We can't hire anyone with felony convictions or abuse/assault convictions), drug screen, TB skin test and work physical.
- Be in good health and free of mental and/or physical limitations which would interfere in dealing appropriately with the client’s handicapping conditions and behavior disorders.
- Ability to kneel, bend and clean on knees; move furniture and lift items that weigh at least 40 lbs
- At least one year of training or experience working in a school or hospital cafeteria or equivalent experience preferred.
- At least one year of training or experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
Essential Duties:
- Assisting with meal preparation including but not limited to use of proper food handling techniques, proper portions and scoops, timeliness of serving line and following set menus and guidelines.
- Possessing knowledge of proper food handling techniques.
- Ensuring cleanliness of kitchen and cafeteria before, during and after all meals including but not limited to washing dishes, utensils, equipment, tables, trays and other areas.
- Ability to follow a recipe and use standard kitchen equipment including food thermometers.
