POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Program Director of your program, the Associate Program Director will support the Program Director with general administrative oversight, academic operations, and the integration of teacher/pastor theology within the program. The Associate Program Director will shadow the Program Director, gaining experience in managing faculty and programmatic responsibilities, with a strong focus on community building among adjunct faculty and assisting with academic and operational processes. This role also includes Worship and Live Production Liaison responsibilities, which includes facilitating communication and coordination between the Worship Studies program and the Student Development department for events, as well as ensuring seamless execution of live production needs in partnership with The King’s University (TKU) and Gateway Church.

This position is also responsible for teaching, advising, and contributing to the academic and spiritual mission of The King's University. Faculty members are expected to uphold institutional policies, foster student success, and engage in service, research, and professional development aligned with the University's mission and Statement of Faith.

Associate Program Director Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the development and evaluation of program curriculum, course sequencing, and degree requirements.
  • Help foster an environment that supports the intellectual, spiritual, ethical, and professional growth of faculty and staff.
  • Support the integration of teacher/pastor theology in faculty and staff activities. Collaborate with the Program Director to model and promote theological integration in both administrative duties and teaching practices.
  • Assist faculty with uploading textbooks, syllabi, and navigating communication tools (e.g., Outlook, Slack). Provide technical support and assist with operational challenges as needed.
  • Attend meetings, including the Undergraduate Academic Council (UAC) and The King’s Seminary Academic Council (TKSAC), as needed and shadow the Program Director in these forums to gain experience in academic governance.
  • Assist with public-facing activities to promote the program’s vision and mission.

Worship Liaison Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the Worship Studies program and the Student Development department.
  • Collaborate closely with TKU and Gateway Church to oversee all live production needs for worship services, events, and other program-related activities. This includes managing technical coordination for sound, lighting, and multimedia components to ensure high-quality worship experiences.
  • Work alongside faculty and staff to ensure that events and live production align with the educational goals of the Worship Studies program.
  • Provide ongoing support for live events, troubleshooting any technical challenges and ensuring all logistical elements run smoothly for students and participants.

Faculty Position Responsibilities:
  1. Teaching and Curriculum Development
    • Deliver a teaching load equivalent to 24 credit hours per academic year, including course preparation, instruction, and assessment.
    • Develop and revise course materials to ensure academic rigor and alignment with program goals.
    • Engage in alternative teaching methods, including online or hybrid instruction, as needed, and participate in required training for such methods.
  2. Student Engagement and Advising
    • Provide academic advising and mentorship to assigned students.
    • Offer timely feedback on coursework and guide students in their academic and professional growth.
  3. Service to the University
    • Participate in at least one University committee or sub-committee.
    • Attend faculty meetings, chapels, and other institutional events as required.
    • Contribute to program development, accreditation efforts, and institutional assessments.
  4. Administrative and Operational Duties
    • Submit syllabi, attendance reports, and grades in accordance with University deadlines.
    • Administer mid-term and final exams during designated periods and meet other institutional requirements.
    • Support administrative functions and take on additional duties, as assigned by the Chief Academic Officer or designee, including administrative work within designated release time.
  5. Professional Development and Scholarship
    • Engage in research, writing, and other scholarly activities as applicable.
    • Stay current in the field through professional development and collaboration with colleagues.
  6. Flexibility in Instructional Assignments
    • Teach courses or perform equivalent administrative tasks as assigned due to changes in course availability, enrollment, or departmental needs.
    • Opportunities for teaching outside the Agreement Term or summer courses may be offered with additional stipends as per adjunct pay schedules.

University-Wide Responsibilities

  • Utilize effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly both internally and publicly.
  • Participate in professional development activities that are aligned with university, departmental, and individual goals.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records as required by governing entities (DOE, TRACS, ABHE, etc.); file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings and serve on committees as required.
  • Comply with all policies, operating procedures, legal requirements, and verbal and written directives.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
         
 Supervisory (If applicable):
  • Live production volunteers and student workers

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:
  • Master's degree is required. A Doctorate (Ph.D. or D.Min.) is preferred.

Experience:
  • Significant experience in academic administration, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Familiarity with theological education and practical ministry training is preferred
  • Proven experience in event coordination, music education, or ministry, with a strong preference for prior work in worship settings
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with an ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams
  • Familiarity with live production technologies (sound, lighting, multimedia) for worship services and events
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching, advising, and scholarship.

  • Competent in developing, interpreting, and applying university policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • A passion for worship ministry and creating meaningful student experiences in a higher education context
