Kiski School is seeking a compassionate and skilled School Nurse to provide healthcare services to students. The School Nurse plays a crucial role in ensuring the health and safety of students,
delivering preventive care, managing chronic conditions, administering medication, and
responding to health emergencies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in
pediatric or school-based nursing, along with a commitment to promoting wellness within an
educational setting. The start date for this position will be in August 2025
Key Responsibilities:
● Provide direct care to students, including assessment, treatment, and management of
health concerns, injuries, and illnesses.
● Administer medication and monitor students with chronic health conditions, such as
diabetes and asthma, according to individual health plans.
● Maintain and update health records for all students, ensuring compliance with state and
federal regulations.
● Serve as a resource for health education, supporting students, teachers, and staff with
information on wellness, hygiene, and disease prevention.
● Monitor communicable diseases and implement infection control measures to maintain a
safe school environment.
● Collaborate with parents, teachers, administrators, and other school personnel to create
a supportive and healthy school environment.
● Participate in professional development to remain current on best practices in school
health.
Education & Experience:
● Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse from an accredited nursing program.
● At least 1 year nursing experience is required.
● Experience in pediatric nursing, public health, or a school setting is preferred.
Licensure & Certification Requirements for Pennsylvania:
● Registered Nurse (RN) License or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in good standing, issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
● CPR from a recognized provider (e.g., American Red Cross or American Heart Association).
● Act 34 Criminal History Record - Pennsylvania State Police background check.
● Act 151 Child Abuse Clearance - Pennsylvania Department of Human Services background check.
● FBI Criminal History Clearance (Act 114) - Federal background check with fingerprinting.
● Act 126 Mandated Reporter Training - Certification in child abuse recognition and reporting.
● Act 24 Arrest/Conviction Report and Certification Form - Required by Pennsylvania schools for employment.
Skills & Abilities:
● Strong assessment and clinical skills, especially in pediatric care.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students,
parents, and school personnel.
● Must be able to work independently.
● Ability to handle medical emergencies and respond calmly under pressure.
● Strong organizational skills to maintain detailed health records and documentation.
● Ability to work the hours required of a boarding school, including occasional overnight
shifts and taking call after hours.
Health Center hours of operation: Monday - Friday 7:45 am - 6:30 pm
Weekends 10:30 am - 6:30 pm
