POSITION OVERVIEW
The L.O.V.E. Academy is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Summer Camp Counselors to support the daily operations of our high school Summer Empowerment Camp. Counselors will serve as mentors and role models for students, ensuring a safe, engaging, and enriching camp experience. This position requires strong communication skills, teamwork, and a passion for youth development. Summer Camp Counselors will report directly to the Youth Program Coordinator.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Student Engagement & Supervision
- Supervise and support students throughout daily activities, ensuring safety and participation.
- Build positive relationships with campers and foster an inclusive and welcoming environment.
- Assist in leading group activities, discussions, and workshops.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to students as they navigate camp experiences.
Program Support & Facilitation
- Help implement camp programs, ensuring alignment with the L.O.V.E. Academy mission.
- Assist facilitators and instructors in delivering lessons and activities at the direction of the Youth Program Coordinator.
- Monitor student behavior and enforce camp rules to maintain a respectful and positive atmosphere.
- Support daily logistics, including attendance, transitions between activities, and meal supervision.
- Accompany students and Youth Program Coordinator on weekly scheduled field trips.
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with the Youth Program Coordinator, facilitators, volunteers, and fellow counselors to ensure a smooth camp experience.
- Communicate effectively with staff, students, and families as needed.
- Participate in required training sessions and orientation prior to camp start.
Additional Responsibilities
- Address student needs and concerns promptly and professionally.
- Assist with setup and cleanup of program spaces.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Coordinator.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience working with youth in a camp, school, or community setting preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well in a team and adapt to dynamic camp environments.
- Passion for youth development and mentorship.
- Dependable, energetic, and committed to creating a positive experience for students.

ABOUT THE L.O.V.E. ACADEMY
L.O.V.E. Academy is a fiscally sponsored project of the Arts & Business Council of Greater Nashville, a non-profit organization. The Academy serves high school teens (grades 9-12) through after-school and summer programming that spans various content areas, including culinary arts, songwriting and recording, film and content production, cosmetology, vocational training, communications, entrepreneurship, and STEM.
Our goal is to encourage teens to reach their full potential and develop life skills that will enable them to be self-sufficient, empowered, and thoughtful leaders in their professional and personal lives beyond high school. The summer program integrates academic instruction, career readiness, and social-emotional development to provide students with a transformative learning experience.
