Position Overview
The L.O.V.E. Academy is seeking a Youth Program Coordinator to oversee the daily operations of our upcoming Summer Empowerment Camp. This program is designed to empower students through academic enrichment, social-emotional learning, and career exploration. The Program Coordinator will ensure smooth program execution by managing support staff and volunteers, teaching core sessions, and collaborating with internal and external partners.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Operations
- Manage the daily operations of the L.O.V.E. Academy Summer Empowerment Camp for teens (ages 14-18).
- Supervise, support, and evaluate program staff, including counselors, facilitators, and volunteers.
- Ensure all programming aligns with the L.O.V.E. Academy mission and values.
- Coordinate schedules, logistics, and resources for camp activities.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for staff, students, and families.
Instruction & Student Engagement
- Teach Game of Life and Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) sessions daily, following a provided curriculum.
- Facilitate whole-group instruction that fosters engagement, critical thinking, and student success.
- Assess student needs and adapt instructional strategies accordingly.
Collaboration & Communication
- Work with internal and external partners to enhance program offerings.
- Plan and implement activities in collaboration with guest speakers, community organizations, and stakeholders.
- Participate in required training sessions to ensure program effectiveness.
Additional Responsibilities
- Maintain program records, including attendance and evaluation data.
- Ensure a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for all participants.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must be a certified teacher with an active K-12 teaching license.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of teaching experience required.
- Strong teaching and facilitation skills, particularly in social-emotional learning.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to lead a team, manage multiple priorities, and problem-solve effectively.
Position Details
- Employment Type: Contract (4-weeks) *must be available for the duration of the camp.
- Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8am-4pm
- Duration: 4 weeks (plus required training and orientation prior to camp start)
- Location: L.O.V.E. Academy, Nashville, TN
About L.O.V.E. Academy
L.O.V.E. Academy is a fiscally sponsored project of the Arts & Business Council of Greater Nashville, a non-profit organization. The Academy serves Nashville high school teens (grades 9-12) through after-school and summer programming that spans various content areas, including culinary arts, songwriting and recording, film and content production, cosmetology, vocational training, communications, entrepreneurship, and STEM.
Our goal is to encourage teens to reach their full potential and develop life skills that will enable them to be self-sufficient, empowered, and thoughtful leaders in their professional and personal lives beyond high school.
