What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Manager - Fabrication position at The Lab Fabrication?
Reporting to our Director of Project Manager, Project Managers are responsible for managing the execution of projects of varying sizes and scope. The Project Manager is responsible for maintaining client relationships and offering a consistently elevated client experience in order to strengthen relationships focusing on return business. The ideal candidate should have a broad knowledge of fabrication techniques specific to special experiential events, retail build-out, immersive environments, staging, and fixtures and furniture. They should possess experience managing multifaceted and complex custom builds in addition to managing labor and budgets for installations and strikes. They should also work well in fast-paced, collaborative environments, be extremely well organized, are very comfortable engaging with clients as well as remaining adept at maintaining professional correspondence and motivating their teams. A knowledge of applicable materials is absolutely essential.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Maintain & grow client relationships through effective management and providing excellent communication and service to our clients
- Responsible for executing projects from inception to completion
- Able to anticipate client needs and/or potential project hurdles, and having the ability to actively provide solutions
- Maintain proper communication channels with clients as well as internal departments revolving in/around multiple projects at one time.
- Attend site visits and document detailed notes/photos of the venue/delivery site
- Maintain project budget while tracking labor and expenses billed against a project
- Coordinate with Facility Manager all logistics related to assigned projects
- Maintain production schedule and assist Foreman with scheduling appropriate crew according to staffing protocol
- Extract, compile, and organize all documents and information pertaining to an event or project, ensuring budgets and proper tracking are being maintained
- Monitor in-house fabrication, vendor management, installation, and load-out of all elements within the scope of a project.
- Ensure production needs, quality, and timeline are met to satisfy the client in a cost-effective manner
- Organize and run pre-production/kickoff meetings and periodic team alignment/regroup meetings
- Oversee collateral organization and warehousing related to a project
- Source and acquire project related materials
- Coordinate pack and wrap, manifests, and truckload with Logistics team
- Manage all aspects of an install/load-in and oversee strikes
- Reconcile all production materials, tools, and inventory items post-event
- Complete project wraps and coordinate meetings with relevant peers (debrief)
- Maintain discipline to procedures, in accordance with safety, quality, engineering, human resources, and finance department guidelines

QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 3 years of management experience and/or leading a team
- Extensive material knowledge of material specific to this industry
- Proficient in reading blueprints and shop drawings
- Comprehensive knowledge of construction techniques and building materials
- Able to provide written reports and deliver direct feedback
- Organized, detail-oriented and team driven
- Flexible and adaptable to constant change
- Willing to travel and work nights and weekends, as needed
- Working knowledge with Sketchup, Adobe Illustrator, or relative CAD software
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
