JOB SUMMARY : The Endodontist will specialize in the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of any damage and / or injury to the tooth pulp, as well as, the tissue and nerves within and surrounding the root of a tooth that have become damaged or infected due to some type of bacteria.
CHARACTERISTIC JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Assume quality of care for patients with endodontic problems while adhering to the highest standard of dental practice ethics and professionalism;
- Examines, diagnoses, and treats diseases of dental pulps and periapical tissues of teeth;
- Evaluates findings and prescribes method of treatment to prevent loss of teeth and to restore teeth to function;
- Examines, diagnoses, and treats diseases of nerve, pulp, and other dental tissues affecting vitality of teeth : Examines teeth, gums, and related tissues to determine condition, using dental instruments, X-Ray, and other diagnostic equipment;
- Diagnoses condition and plans treatment;
- Treats exposure of pulp by pulp capping or removal of pulp from pulp chamber and root canal, using dental instruments;
- Performs partial or total removal of pulp, using surgical instruments;
- Treats infected root canal and related tissues, and fills pulp chamber and canal with endodontic materials;
- Faculty member will contribute and be responsible for overall student success, including, but not limited to, advising and student outcomes;
- Faculty member will contribute directly to the Mission of LECOM embodying the essence of Osteopathic Principles and Practices by assisting with Institutional fundraising and participating in the LECOM Scholarship Auction;
- Faculty member will participate in scholarly activity so to enrich and broaden the student learning experience;
- Faculty member will commit to being a representative of LECOM by being actively involved in the community, including, but not limited to, serving on Boards, participating in community fundraisers and overall outreach;
- Removes pathologic tissue at apex of tooth, surgically;
- Reinserts teeth that have been knocked out of mouth by accident; and
- Be able to accept other duties assigned / needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Education and experience equivalent to : The successful candidate will be a licensed DMD or DDS. Must have or have the capability to get a Florida dental license. Must have successfully completed an advanced education program in endodontics accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the ADA.
