Position: Banquet Steward/Dishwasher (Seasonal)

Reports to: Chef de Cuisine of Banquets

Job Summary:
The Banquet Steward is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organization in the banquet kitchen and dishwashing areas. Duties include operating dishwashing machinery, cleaning kitchen tools and equipment, removing trash and recyclables, and ensuring hygiene standards are upheld. The role also involves assisting banquet cooks and servers, maintaining a safe work environment, and supporting banquet operations as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensure the banquet kitchen is clean, organized, and maintained at all times.
• Operate dishwashing machinery and ensure all dishes, pots, pans, and service ware are cleaned and sanitized.
• Adhere to sanitation and hygiene guidelines as outlined by the hotel and regulatory authorities.
• Sweep, mop, and maintain floors and walls in the kitchen and dishwashing areas.
• Remove trash and recyclables, ensuring waste is disposed of according to hotel and recycling standards.
• Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, including large appliances, per established procedures.
• Monitor and maintain appropriate levels of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
• Inspect equipment regularly, ensuring proper function, and report any maintenance issues.
• Wash, dry, and store all cleaned items in an organized and safe manner.
• Record breakages or damaged items and update inventory as needed.
• Assist banquet cooks with basic food preparation or workstation cleaning when requested.
• Support food and beverage service during banquet events if required.
• Follow Safety Data Sheet (SDS) protocols for the safe handling of chemicals.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment at all times.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Chef de Cuisine of Banquets.

Prerequisites:

• Positive attitude, strong communication skills, and ability to work efficiently under pressure.
• Must be organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience:

• Previous experience in a similar role and knowledge of basic food hygiene preferred.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

• Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds occasionally.
• Frequent standing and moving for up to six hours at a time.
• Exposure to kitchen environments with moderate noise levels and potential allergens.
• Ability to safely use kitchen tools and equipment, climb stairs, and perform cleaning tasks.
