Skills and Requirements include:
- ASL fluency level appropriate for medical assignments
- Proven ability to effectively interpret between ASL and English, as demonstrated by a national certification
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to work independently, including monitoring own schedule, arriving on-time to customer worksites, and patiently handling situations as they arise in the field
- High-school diploma or equivalent required, bachelor’s degree preferred
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Ability to travel to the Hampton Roads Peninsula daily. The majority of the appointments will be medical, between Williamsburg and Newport News/Hampton
- Convey the message and intent of the speaker in a linguistically and culturally equivalent manner in English and/or ASL
- Adhere to the ethical standards set by the RID-NAD Code of Professional Conduct
- Provide excellent customer and consumer service as a representative of the company
- Attend assigned interpreting engagements and complete required company reporting on-time
- Perform administrative tasks or other duties as assigned
