This organization is dedicated to making a meaningful impact in the community and is seeking a detail-oriented and strategic accounting professional to oversee financial operations and ensure compliance with non-profit accounting standards.
Accounting Manager Responsibilities :
Manage daily accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable / receivable, and financial reporting
Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and non-profit accounting standards
Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and grant reporting to ensure financial sustainability and compliance with funding requirements
Collaborate with leadership and program managers to provide financial insights that support organizational decision-making
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, as well as grant-specific financial requirements
Lead the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors and preparing necessary documentation
Implement and improve internal controls and accounting procedures to enhance operational efficiency
Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, fostering a culture of professional growth and excellence
Accounting Manager Requirements :
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA preferred
5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial role
Non-profit accounting experience, including familiarity with fund accounting and grant reporting, is strongly preferred
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, or similar) and Microsoft Excel
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently
Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments
