We are seeking a skilled and experienced Assistant Controller to join our dynamic media company. This role is essential in leading a team of five accounting professionals, overseeing full-cycle accounting processes, and ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in accounting and leadership, with a proven track record in the media industry.

Position is REMOTE with possibility of quarterly travel.

Assistant Controller Responsibilities :

Supervise and mentor a team of five accounting professionals, fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment.

Delegate tasks effectively, providing guidance and training to ensure team success.

Oversee full-cycle accounting processes, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger management, and reconciliations.

Manage and execute month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

Support financial audits by preparing schedules and responding to auditor inquiries.

Collaborate with HR to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.

Assist in maintaining compliance with payroll tax regulations and other HR-related accounting functions.

Provide accounting and financial support to shared services corporate offices.

Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal policies.

Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and streamline accounting processes

Implement best practices to improve the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting

Assistant Controller Requirements :

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Accounting degree preferred)

CPA certification is a plus

A minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role

Prior experience in the media industry is strongly preferred

In-depth knowledge of full-cycle accounting, payroll functions, and HR-related financial processes

Strong understanding of month-end close procedures and financial reporting

Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
