As a Patient Access Specialist , you will play a vital role in ensuring seamless patient experiences by facilitating the registration process, verifying insurance information and coordinating patient appointments. Patient Access Specialist Responsibilities :
- Greet patients and visitors with professionalism and empathy, creating a welcoming environment
- Collect and accurately enter patient demographic and insurance information into electronic medical records systems
- Verify insurance coverage and eligibility, ensuring compliance with payer requirements
- Assist patients in understanding their insurance benefits, financial obligations and available payment options
- Schedule patient appointments, procedures and tests according to provider availability and patient preferences
- Coordinate referrals to specialists and obtain necessary authorizations as required by insurance plans
- Collaborate with clinical staff to address patient inquiries, concerns and special needs
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations at all times
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to stay informed about changes in healthcare regulations and best practices
