The Laurel Center is a non-profit organization located in Winchester, VA. Established in 1981, The Laurel Center’s mission is to empower those affected by domestic and sexual violence by providing a comprehensive program of crisis intervention and support services to include a 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter, an extended stay program, licensed therapy, legal advocacy, educational programming, community outreach, job training and placement.
Position Summary
Oversees the day-to-day operations of the sexual violence program including the Warren County satellite office. Provides leadership, supervision and training to the Sexual Violence Program staff. Oversees the planning, implementation and evaluation of the Sexual Violence Program. Responsible for reviewing, evaluating, and making program adjustments as part of continuous quality improvement of the Sexual Violence program. Expands and strengthens a positive community image and develops staff in a manner that reflects the vision, mission and goals of The Laurel Center. Responsible for grant writing and reporting.
Essential Tasks
- Works with the Executive Director to develop annual goals for the SV Program.
- Development and maintenance of program grants and complete all monthly, quarterly and semi-annual reports for the SV Program.
- Provides direct support and training to SV Program staff and assures programs are properly staffed. This includes but not limited to orientation to services, service delivery procedures, ensure assigned staff maintain accurate and complete records and statistics on all clients and services provided and ensure information is entered into the VADATA system promptly.
- As needed, provide crisis intervention and technical assistance to survivors in the emergency room, and provide advocacy within the judicial system.
- Coordinate staff attendance and provide leadership as needed at SART, MDT, TRIAD and other community coordinated response teams within the service area.
- Foster community relations and promote the visibility of the program through participation with community-based service organizations and projects; speak before groups to promote interest and support; work with staff to develop other public awareness activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in social work or related field; Master’s Degree preferred
- Five years’ experience in a human services setting with knowledge of sexual violence and its impact on victims and families.
- Two years’ supervisory, grant writing and grant’s management experience.
