Laurel Hill School is seeking a highly organized, strategic, and proactive Chief of Staff to serve as a key advisor and operational leader for the Head of School and Preschool Directorl. This critical role ensures the seamless execution of school-wide initiatives, facilitates cross-functional collaboration, and drives strategic priorities that support the school’s mission, faculty, students, and families.
The Chief of Staff acts as a trusted partner, providing high-level operational and administrative support while ensuring the Head of School’s vision is effectively communicated and implemented. Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Operational Oversight:
- Serve as the right-hand advisor to the Head of School and Preschool Director, ensuring strategic priorities are executed effectively and efficiently.
- Act as a liaison between the Administration, faculty, and staff, ensuring alignment across departments.
- Oversee key initiatives and special projects, driving implementation and monitoring progress toward strategic goals.
- Develop and implement systems and processes to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of school operations.
- Serve as a sounding board and problem-solver, helping to anticipate challenges and provide solutions before they arise.
School Leadership & Administrative Support:
- Manage the Head of School’s schedule, priorities, and workflow, ensuring time is optimized for high-impact activities.
- Lead and coordinate leadership team meetings, goal-setting sessions, and progress evaluations.
- Draft and review communications, reports, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Represent the Head of School in meetings and discussions when needed, ensuring consistent leadership presence.
- Act as a confidential advisor, handling sensitive matters with discretion and professionalism.
Cross-Departmental Coordination & Communication:
- Enhance communication between the Head of School, faculty, staff, families, and external partners.
- Ensure that key decisions, policies, and initiatives are clearly articulated and successfully implemented.
- Develop and maintain effective internal communication strategies, ensuring transparency and alignment across all levels of the school.
- Oversee the execution of faculty and staff initiatives, ensuring clarity on goals, expectations, and accountability.
Project & Event Management:
- Oversee the planning and execution of major school events, leadership retreats, and community engagement initiatives.
- Ensure that school policies, procedures, and strategic plans are properly implemented and monitored.
- Coordinate and manage special projects, crisis response efforts, and institutional initiatives as directed by the Head of School.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Education, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Experience in school leadership, operations, or executive administration.
- Demonstrated project management and operational leadership experience in an educational or mission-driven organization.
- Exceptional communication, writing, and public speaking skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information clearly.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities, with a high degree of initiative and adaptability.
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
- Experience in strategic planning, organizational development, and change management.
