Overview
For over 50 Years, Laurel Hill Summer Camp has been one of the best summer camps in Suffolk County, Long Island. The camp is designed for children from Preschool through 10th grade, providing them with a platform to explore new skills and interests during the summer.
Our camp offers various programs such as sports, arts and crafts, drama, music, gymnastics, karate, swimming, nature exploration, games, gardening, computers, swing shot, rock climbing, and tennis. This wide-ranging program aims to cater to different interests and encourages active, engaged learning in a fun, safe environment.
We look for Camp Team Members who are enthusiastic and motivated, possess a genuine love of teaching and coaching children and teens, and are eager to work hard and play hard. All Specialty teachers at Laurel Hill take part in camp-wide community events and themes, and demonstrate leadership as positive role models for campers and group staff.
Laurel Hill Summer Camp seeks an energetic, enthusiastic Sports Specialist to teach a variety of sports to Pre-School, Elementary as well as Middle School campers.
Duties include organizing skill development and game sessions for our campers, managing and organizing equipment, and ensuring a safe and productive environment for all campers and staff. Our camp program focuses on participation, cooperation, and skill acquisition, rather than on competition.
Position
As a Sports Specialist, you will plan and execute athletic activities, ensuring all campers are engaged and learning fundamental sports skills in a safe and fun environment.
This position is perfect for enthusiastic individuals who enjoy inspiring young people through physical activity and sports.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement a diverse range of sports activities suitable for different age groups.
- Submit weekly age-appropriate lesson plans.
- Teach and demonstrate sportsmanship and teamwork.
- Assess and adapt activities to suit the skill levels and interests of campers.
- Ensure the safety of all participants during sports activities.
- Coordinate with other camp staff to organize sports events and competitions.
Qualifications
- Experience in teaching sports or physical education.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and motivational skills.
- Ability to instruct a variety of sports.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
