About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Nurse to fill the position of Staff Development Coordinator/Infection Preventionist RN at The Laurels of Defiance. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing educational programs, conducting orientation, and providing ongoing in-service education to nursing staff. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in infection prevention by monitoring healthcare-associated infections, assessing problems, and implementing corrective actions.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver comprehensive educational programs on all shifts and for all departments to enhance the skills and knowledge of nursing staff.
- Participate in staff evaluation processes by providing attendance records and observing employee performance.
- Provide facility orientation to new employees and ongoing in-service education to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
- Plan and implement a monthly and annual schedule of planned education programs to meet the evolving needs of nursing staff.
- Ensure Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA)/State Tested Nursing Assistants (STNA) meet the annual 12-hour in-service requirement to maintain their certification.
- Actively participate in quality assurance initiatives and report concerns to supervisors to drive continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with department heads and physicians as needed to improve patient care and outcomes.
