Staff Development Coordinator
We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) with a passion for teaching others to join our team as a Staff Development Coordinator.
About the Role
The Staff Development Coordinator acts as the educator for The Laurels of Defiance, conducting orientation and providing other in-service educational programs for the nursing staff. This role is responsible for designing systems and approving actions to prevent or control infections, based on surveillance reports of infections and infection potential among residents and staff.
Responsibilities
- Designs, plans, and provides educational programs on all shifts and for all departments.
- Participates in the staff evaluation process by providing attendance records and observation of employee performance.
- Provides general facility orientation to all new employees and ongoing in-service education.
- Ensures Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA)/State Tested Nursing Assistants (STNA) meet the annual 12-hour in-service requirement.
- Actively participates in quality assurance and reports concerns to supervisor.
Infection Prevention Responsibilities
- Monitors healthcare-associated infections.
- Assesses infection prevention problems and makes recommendations for corrective action.
- Initiates, reviews, and revises infection prevention policies and procedures.
- Consults with department heads and physicians as needed to improve care.
- Initiates follow-up on employee/resident exposures to communicable diseases.
Requirements
We prefer candidates with 1-3 years of experience in long-term care settings.
