At Ciena Healthcare, we are seeking a dedicated and passionate Staff Development Coordinator/Infection Prevention nurse to join our team.
The ideal candidate will act as the educator for our facility, conducting orientation and in-service educational programs for nursing staff. This role also involves designing systems and approving actions to prevent or control infections, based on surveillance reports of infections and infection potential among residents and staff.
About the Role
- Designs, plans, and provides educational programs on all shifts and for all departments.
- Participates in the staff evaluation process by providing attendance records and observation of employee performance.
- Provides general facility orientation to all new employees and ongoing in-service education.
- Plans and provides a monthly and annual schedule of planned education programs.
- Ensures Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA)/State Tested Nursing Assistants (STNA) meet the annual 12-hour in-service requirement.
- Actively participates in quality assurance and reports concerns to supervisor.
- Monitors healthcare-associated infections.
- Audits and assesses infection prevention problems and makes recommendations for corrective action.
- Initiates, reviews, and revises infection prevention policies and procedures.
- Conducts outbreak investigation and initiates control measures. Reports communicable diseases to the state as required by law.
Qualifications
- 1-3 years of experience in long-term care setting preferred.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state.
- CPR certification.
