We are a highly respected boutique woman-owned Law Firm that serves the construction industry and other businesses to help manage risk, develop and utilize best practices in their industry, solve problems, and diligently pursue claims and/or defend themselves in court, so that the clients can focus their energies on running their businesses productively without negative distractions and further risk.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
The Legal Assistant is critical to ensuring the managing attorney is supported and can focus on growing the business and maximizing client results and impact, while also communicating with the client, supporting the attorneys’ case work, and facilitating client matters and case progression. This role involves handling administrative tasks for the firm’s operation and delivery of work product as directed by the attorneys. The Legal Assistant is part of the fulcrum of the firm’s operations and legal work and is accountable to the managing attorney. The ideal Legal Assistant has the skills, experience, and drive to perform billable work at the level of Paralegal.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide comprehensive administrative and case management support to the managing and assistant attorneys.
- Facilitate effective communication between clients and legal staff, ensuring clients are informed and engaged throughout their legal journey.
- Assist in the development and implementation of firm procedures that enhance efficiency and client satisfaction.
- Manage case documentation and data, ensuring accuracy and timely access to critical information for case preparation and court proceedings.
- Contribute to a team-oriented environment that fosters collaboration and continuous improvement in service delivery.
- Manage the firm’s calendar and keep track of deadlines and milestones, updating docket promptly as required.
- Assist in drafting legal documents such as disclosure statements, demand letters, motions, and affidavits with high accuracy and proper legal terminology.
- Record attorney and paralegal billable time on firm billing software and prepare bills.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Process-oriented with impeccable follow-through and ability to anticipate needed tasks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office and a nimble computer user.
- Strong attention to detail including written work product and docketing.
- Minimum of an associate's degree or equivalent from a recognized paralegal program.
- At least five years of relevant legal experience or a combination of education and experience.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $28.00 - $33.00 per hour
