About the Role :
The Learning Experience - World Headquarters is seeking a Director, Associate General Counsel to join our team in Deerfield Beach, FL. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a leading early education company that is dedicated to providing a nurturing and safe environment for children to learn and grow.
Responsibilities :
Negotiate, monitor, advise, and assist management and real estate business partners in analyzing, reviewing, drafting and administering letters of intent, leases, deeds, purchase and sale agreements, construction agreements and assisting with regulatory issues and requirements in compliance with industry standards
Draft and negotiate commercial real estate contracts, complex leases, waivers, SNDAs, estoppels, and ancillary lease documents
Monitor and execute contract terminations, cancellations, extensions, and renewals
Analyze and render opinions on potential impacts of proposed changes to lease arrangements
Advise and assist management and real estate partners on property and contract law, regulatory issues and Americans with Disabilities Act compliance, as well as lien laws, and licensing issues
Serve as an internal resource on regulatory questions relating to real estate / zoning
Review and analyze significant and / or unique contract requirements, special provisions, terms and conditions to ensure compliance with appropriate laws, regulations, as well as corporate and business unit policies and strategy
Interact with executives, business unit management teams, vendors, and outside counsel
Always uphold strict confidentiality regarding company information, including pending and completed negotiations and agreements
Provide cross-functional legal support, management, and training as requested
Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Legal Officer
Requirements :
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
Admission to the Florida Bar or eligibility for admission as in-house counsel
Minimum of 5 years of commercial real estate legal experience is required including extensive experience in drafting and negotiating commercial real estate leases, ideally gained at a well-regarded law firm. Additional in-house, employment, and franchise experience a plus.
Excellent contract negotiation and management experience necessary
Strong commercial leasing experience critical; employment and / or franchise law experience a plus
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate and interact effectively and appropriately with diverse backgrounds and levels of the organization
Ability to work independently while delivering excellent business results under demanding timetables
Strong research and analysis skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment with quick deadlines and multiple demands. Comfortable in navigating uncertain scenarios and frameworks, and interested in shaping the company's legal practices
Ability to summarize and "translate" main issues of any matter for discussion with lawyers and non-lawyers
Ability to influence others by developing strong working relationships and delivering excellent commercial solutions to complex legal and regulatory issues.
