Location: Onsite in Deerfield Beach, FL

Salary range: $150k - $170k

Key areas of experience: Commercial Real Estate with extensive experience in high-volume lease transactions, including negotiating commercial leases, amendments, SNDAs/Estoppels, and other critical ancillary documents (70% of role)

About The Role

The Learning Experience - World Headquarters is seeking a Director, Associate General Counsel to join our team in Deerfield Beach, FL. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a leading early education company that is dedicated to providing a nurturing and safe environment for children to learn and grow.

Responsibilities

• Lead the negotiation and drafting of commercial lease agreements and related documentation, including estoppels, SNDAs, amendments, work letters, and default notices
• Analyze lease terms, business contracts, and franchise agreements to provide strategic guidance on risk management and business implications to executive leadership, internal departments and franchisees
• Collaborate with Real Estate, Operations, Franchise Development, Construction, and other internal business teams to structure favorable terms and resolve complex legal issues
• Provide legal support for various corporate transactions and business agreements to advance company objectives
• Develop and maintain standard forms and processes across real estate and franchise documentation to ensure consistency and efficiency
• Oversee compliance monitoring and resolution of defaults across lease and franchise portfolios
• Stay current on relevant laws and regulations affecting commercial real estate to ensure best practices
• Manage relationships with outside counsel and work closely with senior leadership on strategic initiatives
• Support corporate initiatives and special projects as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Legal Officer
  
  

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
• Admission to the Florida Bar or eligibility for admission as in-house counsel
• Minimum of 5 years of commercial real estate legal experience is required including extensive experience in drafting and negotiating commercial real estate leases, ideally gained at a well-regarded law firm. Additional in-house, employment, and franchise experience a plus.
• Excellent contract negotiation and management experience necessary
• Strong commercial leasing experience critical; employment and/or franchise law experience a plus
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate and interact effectively and appropriately with diverse backgrounds and levels of the organization
• Ability to work independently while delivering excellent business results under demanding timetables
• Strong research and analysis skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment with quick deadlines and multiple demands. Comfortable in navigating uncertain scenarios and frameworks, and interested in shaping the company's legal practices
• Ability to summarize and "translate" main issues of any matter for discussion with lawyers and non-lawyers
• Ability to influence others by developing strong working relationships and delivering excellent commercial solutions to complex legal and regulatory issues.
