What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Kitchen Prep position at The Learning Kitchen?
At The Learning Kitchen, we teach Hands-On, chef-led cooking classes. The right candidate must have back-of-house restaurant experience.
If you are willing to learn our procedures, have a positive, enthusiastic attitude, are comfortable working with the public, and are an independent, reliable worker – this job may be right for you.
Some of the specific duties include:
· Gathering and measuring recipe ingredients
· Basic food preparation (for example, baking potatoes, dicing chicken, making croutons)
· Welcoming guests to class and serving beer and wine during class
· Cleaning the kitchen cooktops and countertop
· Occasionally washing cooking utensils, pans, and dishes in a commercial dishwasher
· Rarely required to lift up to 30 pounds
· Other duties as assigned
A typical shift runs like this:
· 2 hours before class: setting up for class (gathering and measuring ingredients, basic food prep)
· 2 hours during class: serving guests beer/wine, washing pans, utensils, and dishes as they become available
· 1-2 hours following class: complete kitchen cleanup
Compensation is based on experience.
Available Shift:
- Monday - Friday: 4:00 PM - 10:00 PM
- Saturday: 3:00PM - 9:00PM
