The Learning Kitchen in West Chester OH is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented dishwasher to support our summer kids' camps. This role is essential in maintaining the efficiency and cleanliness of our kitchen during busy camp sessions. The dishwasher will be responsible for cleaning and sanitizing dishes, keeping the dishwashing area organized, and assisting with basic kitchen cleaning tasks. This is a fast-paced position that requires teamwork, efficiency, and the ability to handle a steady workflow of dishes during and after classes.
Employment Type: Full-time summer job
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Weekdays May 27th through August 15th
Key Responsibilities:
- Dishwashing & Sanitization:
- Scrape food waste into the garbage and pre-rinse dishes.
- Use our commercial dishwashing system to wash, rinse, and sanitize dishes.
- Hand wash chef knives and delicate items as needed.
- Organize and efficiently load dish racks to maximize washing capacity.
- Unload and properly store clean dishes, utensils, and cookware.
- Maintaining a Clean & Organized Dish Area:
- Keep the dishwashing station tidy and free of clutter.
- Follow proper procedures for handling kitchen tools and sharp objects.
- Assist with taking out trash and maintaining a sanitary kitchen environment.
- Supporting the Kitchen Team:
- Assist with rolling carts of dirty dishes from classrooms to the dish station.
- Work efficiently during high-volume periods, particularly after class sessions.
- Communicate with the kitchen team to ensure a smooth workflow.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Dependability: Ability to be on time and ready to work each day.
- Physical Stamina: Must be able to stand for long periods and lift/move racks of dishes.
- Attention to Detail: Ensuring dishes are properly cleaned and sanitized.
- Team Player: Ability to work well with kitchen staff in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic Understanding of Food Safety & Sanitation Procedures (Training provided).
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs.
- Requires standing, bending, reaching, and working in a humid/damp kitchen environment.
- Will be working with hot water, and commercial dish soap.
- Must follow all safety and hygiene protocols to maintain a clean and efficient kitchen.
