What are the duties and responsibilities?

Classroom Management

• Assist other professional staff in diagnosis of learning disorders, development of planned remediation and evaluation of student progress
• Teach personal development skills such as goal setting, independence and self-advocacy
• Prepare, administer and grade tests and assignments to evaluate students' progress
• Administer specialized testing as necessary
• Follow-up with concerns from teachers, parents and/or administrative staff
• Prepare student reports and activities as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations
• Teach socially acceptable behavior, employing techniques such as behavior modification and positive reinforcement
  
  

Lesson Preparation and Delivery

• Prepare student education plans in consultation with the school district administrative team
• Design instruction, both individual and small group, which parallels the general education curriculum
• Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units and projects, and communicate those objectives to students
• Maintain accurate and complete student records and submit reports as required
• Articulate curriculum between and among student levels
  
  

IEP Implementation and Management

• Act as coordinator of IEP implementation with general education staff
• Confer with parents, administrators, testing specialists and professionals to develop individual education plans designed to promote students' educational, physical and social development
• Monitor student progress, participate in review and revision of IEP, as appropriate
  
  

What are the required qualifications?

• High School diploma and have prior experience in a classroom setting is required. Associates or Bachelors Degree is preferred.
• Willingness to go through the required clearances and training to ensure the safety and security of our children, including: four clearances, mandated reporter training, a physical, and TB test. This can typically be accomplished within a week to get you started.
• Capacity for sitting as this happens throughout the eight-hour day.
