Teacher Job Description
Role:
The person selected -to be a teacher at this program will be responsible for supervision, management and planning for the group. The Teacher will report to the Assistant Director and the Director.
Quallficatlons:
I .High School diploma or GED completion with passing grades. 12 semester units or equivalent quarter units in early childhood development; specifically: human growth and development, child, family and community, and curriculum from an accredited or approved college and six months experience working in a child care

2. An AA degree in Child Development or a certificate in Early Childhood Development from an accredited or approved college and six months experience in a child care center.
3. A BA degree with an emphasis in child development and including the required courses of-human growth and development, child, family and community , and curriculum form an accredited or approved college and six months experience in a · child care center.
Must be able to fulfill job responsibilities in accordance with the program philosophy. Teachers must maintain a professional attitude towards the children, the families, and the staff at all times, and be able to communicate professionally and openly.
Duties
1. Plan, supervise, and implement activities for children in accordance with the policies and philosophy of our school.
2. Assume responsibility of the physical, emotional, cognitive, social, and creative growth of each child.
3. Plan activities that meet the needs of individual children; activities that are designed to assure success.
4. Maintain classroom and playground in clean, orderly, and aesthetically pleasing manner conducive to a learning atmosphere. Equipment should be used be stored properly. Classrooms should be left in order at the end of the day. Cleanliness of the classroom is the teacher's responsibility ...
5· Assume equal share of joint cleaning responsibilities of staff including sweeping, cleaning children's restrooms, wiping down lunch tables, counters and sinks. Provide a clean, healthy and safe environment for the children.
6.Assume responsibility for care and maintenance of equipment, materials, and supplies. Inform Director or
Assistant Director when supplies are running low. Make sure materials are returned to their storage area.
7_Keep lines of positive communication open with parents. Only communicate pertinent informaion with the parents and do not discuss any other children or staff members. Participate in parent conferences when necessary.
8. Attend all staff meetings, Open House, Parent Night, and Teacher Workday.
9. Be aware of the licensing requirements and make sure the classroom is in compliance with all requirements.

11. Abide by all staff policies and procedures in the Employee handbook.
12. Provide a model for children to follow in use of verbal and body language in relationships with co workers, children, and parents.
13. Communicate with co workers on a regular basis regarding classroom · procedures. If there is any difficulty in communicating directly with coworkers, communicate via the Director or
Assistant Director.
14. Stay informed of all school activities.
15. Be able get down to the child' s level to talk with or help them. This would include sitting on the floor for circletime or rubbing backs at nap time and sitting at the lunch table with the children for lunch. This would also include bending, stooping, lifting at least 60 pounds, and being able to respond physically and mentally in a timely manner in case of emergency.
16. Participate in annual CPR and First Aid training.
17. Do not move an injured child.
18. Never grab a child or handle.them roughly in any way whatsoever.
19. Never leave a child unattended at any time. Always be responsible for 12 children when on duty.
20. Report all illnesses or injuries no matter how minor to the office and to the parents via Famly app, ,written note, or phone call. Fill out an accident report for all injuries as well.
Teacher Qualifications
- Complete 15 hours of health and safety training, and
- Passed at least 6 units or have an Assistant Teacher permit. o After employment a teacher hired above shall complete at least 2 units each semester until the requirement below are met. Must have on-site supervision by a fully qualified teacher until the 6 additional units are completed, OR
- Fully qualified teacher: 12 units (100, 115, and 2 prog/curr), plus 50 days of teaching experience within 6 months paid or volunteer in a licensed or comparable group child care program. To work with infants, 3 units must be specialized (103 or 106). School Age teacher may substitute hours for units (see regulations for details), OR
- Current CDA (no CDA programs in our area) , OR
- Current A~sociate Teacher, Teacher, or Master Teacher permit.
101216.2 Teacher Aide Qualifications
- 18 year of age (unless a high school graduate or in an ROP program), and
- Under the direct supervision of a teacher unless escorting children to the bathroom or in napping room (see specific sections for these exemptions), and
- Completion of at least 6 units or enrolled in at least 2 units per semester until the 6 units are completed. To work with infants, 3 units must be specialized (103 or 106).
