Job Overview:
The Leavitt Center is looking for a dynamic and passionate Theater Instructor to join our team! This role invites talented individuals with a special skill in theater—whether it be acting, musical theater, improv, or any other area—to inspire students aged 5 and up. Our theater program is designed to foster creativity, confidence, and artistic expression, and we’re seeking an instructor who is eager to share their expertise in a variety of theater disciplines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lesson Planning & Instruction: Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans for each semester, ensuring high-quality instruction across various theater techniques. Create a cohesive theme or focus for each class that builds progressively.
- Theater Techniques: Teach essential theater skills, including acting, singing, stage presence, improvisation, blocking, cue recognition, and more.
- Student Development: Encourage each student to find and express their unique voice on stage. Provide personalized feedback to help them grow in their craft and build self-confidence.
- Performance & Showcases: Conclude each semester with a performance or presentation that allows students to showcase their growth and talents.
- Safety & Environment: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment for all students to learn and practice in.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a performer, actor, or theater professional.
- Strong background in various aspects of theater, including acting, directing, and musical performance.
- Experience in directing, casting, and working with production teams (lighting, sound, etc.).
- Ability to teach and manage students of all ages in a theater setting.
- Availability in the Summer to help run our Summer Theatre Camp Full Production
- Passion for working with diverse age groups, from children to adults.
- First Aid/CPR certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
