Director of Curriculum and Learning

The Leffell School is a cutting-edge K–12 Jewish independent school serving more than 850 students on two campuses in Westchester County, NY, 30 minutes north of New York City. We are seeking a Director of Curriculum and Learning at the Lower School, beginning in August 2025.
Position Overview:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Director of Curriculum and Learning who will develop curriculum for all grade levels through a process of working with teachers while evaluating the best available curricula and doing this through the school’s mission of developing students to become responsible, honest, compassionate, and respectful citizens. The Director of Curriculum and Learning plays a key leadership role in fostering a culture of pedagogical excellence throughout the School.
Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development:
• Faculty hiring, supervision and evaluation, professional development and retention to cultivate an engaged and effective teaching team.
• Lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of the school’s curriculum, ensure educational progression across grade levels, and foster interdisciplinary integration where appropriate.
• Stay up-to-date on current educational trends, research, and best practices in curriculum development.
Instructional Leadership:
• Provide leadership and support to teachers and instructional staff in the implementation of effective teaching strategies.
• Facilitate professional development opportunities focused on curriculum and instruction.
• Promote the use of data-driven decision-making to improve instruction and student outcomes.
• Evaluation and supervision of teachers. Assessing teachers' performance and effectiveness in the classroom to ensure that educational standards and student learning outcomes are met.
Program Evaluation:
• Develop and implement a system for evaluating the effectiveness of instructional programs and initiatives.
• Analyze student performance data to identify areas for improvement and guide instructional practices.
Assessment and Resource Management:
• Oversee the implementation of standardized assessment systems.
• Oversee the selection and implementation of instructional materials, textbooks, and resources.
• Seek out and manage district grants and other funding opportunities to support instructional initiatives.
Collaboration and Communication:
• Collaborate with school leadership, teachers, and parents to ensure the curriculum meets the needs of all students, including areas of support and enrichment.
• Communicate curriculum and educational approaches to families in a variety of ways, including one-on-one conversations about students and workshops geared for parents.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
Qualifications:
• Five years of curriculum development experience.
• Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees required.

Compensation and Benefits:
• Pay Rate: $115,000-$135,000
