The Spa Massage Therapist provides consistent professional spa massage and body treatments compliant with spa protocols and accepted practices to create a healthy stress free environment for relaxing and to meet the needs of guests/clients in accordance with Legacy standards and state regulations. The Spa Massage Therapist must have a thorough knowledge of numerous massage modalities, possess a general understanding of body treatments and be willing to train in our spas specific massage and body treatment offerings. This individual must possess excellent communication skills and be able to learn the product and service knowledge necessary to effectively provide wellness solutions to meet the needs of our guests/clients. It is preferred that this individual have and maintain a current certification from the California Massage Therapy Council (CAMTC). This position is based out of the Legacy Resort Hotel and Spa in San Diego, CA. Must maintain confidentially, and be able to work the assigned schedule.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Uses comprehensive knowledge of various massage modalities and general understanding of body treatments, evaluate clients by conducting various motion and muscle testing and suggest treatment plans in accordance with the Spas specific massage and body healing offerings.
Performs consecutive 50 (up to 120 minutes if capable) minute quality massage therapy sessions and deep tissue work within the scope of training and utilizing draping protocols.
Completes prep work, correctly clean and restock room as necessary upholding the standards of hygiene and sterilization as directed by law and the Spas policies and procedures to maintain a clean and sanitized work environment.
Handles guests queries and concerns efficiently and politely and provide exact, suitable and instant responses to all request by guests.
Possess the aptitude to work with no direct supervision and maintain a constructive attitude to add to quality work environment.
Maintains guest/client schedule and maintain records of clients and services provided.
Orders and maintains linens and creams.
Practices healthcare protocol and maintains physical fitness.
Properly care for tools and use proper amounts of manufactured goods to assist with cost controls.
Generates new clientele through promoting guest/client referral and guest pass programs, promotions and/or discounts.
Regularly present at, take part in and support training and staff meeting for the Spa.
Helps in all areas of spa operation as requested.
Executes professional boundaries and does not engage in dual relationships with clients.
Communicates to management any and all occurrences connecting staff or guests/clients in the Spa that require notice.
Efficiently inform and teach guests concerning specific wellness concerns.
Demonstrates a working knowledge of all hotel safety and security procedures as required maintaining a secure and safe environment for employees as well as guests.
Reports any unusual occurrences and/or requests to the Spa Manager.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Our hotels primary goal is to provide hospitality and exceed guest expectations for levels of service, quality, consistency and attention to detail all team members are evaluated against this standard. A hotel operates 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. During the course of your scheduled shift, you may be asked to assist in areas of the hotel outside of your typical work areas.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or General Education Diploma required.
California Massage Therapy Council (CAMTC) certification preferred.
Continuing education as required to maintain certification and industry standards is preferred.
Minimum two-years experience providing massage services in a high-end salon or luxury spa environment preferred.
Proficient in all components of massage therapy, i.e., anatomy, physiology, body mechanics and various types of massage required.
First Aid, CPR and defibrillator certifications preferred.
COMPETENCIES:
Must be able to stand for an entire shift.
Physically capable of using the required equipment and/or tools specific to position.

Requires excellent verbal communication skills; must be able to communicate in English.
Ability to speak additional languages is a plus.
HOURS OF WORK:
Schedules can vary from week to week; must be available to work on weekends and holidays. A flexible schedule is required to adjust to the changing needs of business operations and guest services.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This job operates on a large campus with multi-story buildings and uneven outdoor areas (e.g., steps, ramps, and gardens) that are open to the elements and changing weather conditions. This position requires regular interaction with staff and members of the public and routinely uses various types of spa and nail equipment, hot water, hot wax, hot stones, hot towels and steam, standard rolling chairs, electric chairs, adjustable beds and carts. In addition to standard office equipment such as a computers, phones, calculator, photocopier, etc. Noise levels will occasionally be high due to equipment, movies, musical and theatrical performances, and other factors.
