Description
The Nail Technician performs professional nail, hand, and foot treatments. They must possess a thorough knowledge of nails, including a basic knowledge of hand and foot massage techniques and a neat application of polish. They must demonstrate excellent cleanliness and sanitation skills and be willing to train in our spa’s specific nail service offerings. This position requires excellent communication skills and be able to learn the product and service knowledge necessary to effectively provide beauty solutions to meet the needs of our guests. The Spa Nail Technician must hold and maintain a current California Nail Technician license. This position is based out of the Legacy Resort Hotel and Spa in San Diego, CA. Must maintain confidentially, and be able to work the assigned schedule.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide consistent professional nail, hand, and foot treatments in accordance with spa protocols and accepted certification practices.
- Knowledge of all products available in the Spa to recommend the appropriate products to guests, to address needs, problems, issues or concerns they have.
- Be on time for your shift, prompt with each appointment and perform services within the appropriate time allotted for the service.
- Prepares work areas as described in operations manual or as instructed and clean work areas after performing services at end of shift.
- Properly care for equipment and use proper amounts of product to assist with cost controls.
- Shares laundry and general housekeeping duties with other staff members.
- Possess the ability to work without direct supervision.
- On occasion, may perform reception duties, i.e., answer phone, book appointments, ring up customers, etc.
- Completes opening/closing procedures, call guests/clients and schedule appointments.
- Maintains required certifications/credentials.
- Ensures compliance with sanitation and health guidelines established by the Department of Health as well as establishing, implementing, and enforcing departmental objectives, standards, guidelines, and procedures.
- Regularly present at, take part in and support training and staff meetings for the Spa.
- Helps in all areas of spa operation as directed by Spa Manager.
- Actively supports the Spa, treatments, services, and retail, in addition to programs, promotions and/or discounts obtainable.
- Executing professional boundaries and does not engage in dual relationships with clients.
- Efficiently inform and teach guests/clients concerning specific wellness concerns.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Our hotel’s primary goal is to provide hospitality and exceed guest expectations for levels of service, quality, consistency and attention to detail — all team members are evaluated against this standard. A hotel operates 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. During the course of your scheduled shift, you may be asked to assist in areas of the hotel outside of your typical work areas.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must hold an active California Nail Technician license.
- Continuing education to maintain license and industry standards is a must.
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma required.
- Minimum two years of successful, hands-on experience required.
- First Aid, CPR and defibrillator certifications preferred.

HOURS OF WORK:
Schedules can vary from week to week; must be available to work on weekends and holidays. A flexible schedule is required to adjust to the changing needs of business operations and guest services.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This job operates on a large campus with multi-story buildings and uneven outdoor areas (e.g., steps, ramps, and gardens) that are open to the elements and changing weather conditions. This position requires regular interaction with staff and members of the public and routinely uses various types of spa and nail equipment, hot water, hot wax, hot stones, hot towels and steam, standard rolling chairs, electric chairs, adjustable beds and carts. In addition to standard office equipment such as a computers, phones, calculator, photocopier, etc. Noise levels will occasionally be high due to equipment, movies, musical and theatrical performances, and other factors.

- This position requires the ability to navigate throughout a large campus with indoor and outdoor work and event spaces.
