Lighthouse Mission Ministries is a leading non-profit organization dedicated to providing emergency shelter, support, and resources to individuals and families experiencing homelessness in our community. Lighthouse Mission Ministries is seeking a dedicated and compassionate student intern to volunteer with our Community Engagement Department. As a Community Engagement Intern, you will play a vital role in fostering connections, coordinating volunteers, and supporting various departments within our organization. This internship opportunity offers a dynamic experience where you will engage directly with our community, assist in administrative tasks, and contribute to hands-on service work. This position is ideal for a college student seeking practical experience in community engagement and social services as part of their coursework.
Schedule: To be individually determined upon intern’s availability, however, will be an expected 12-16 hours per week (or variable for credit) during Spring Quarter 2025
Internship tasks description:
- Help create social media posts, newsletter content, and other written content relevant to volunteerism
- Help assist with project planning and implementation, and volunteer coordination
- Help manage online information pertaining to events and volunteering
- Help contribute to strategic meetings and brainstorming sessions
- Help create and facilitate volunteer appreciation initiatives and volunteer recognition events as schedule allows
- Help streamline on-boarding process with volunteers, including picture name tags, Volunteer Handbook, and updating database in Volunteer Hub
- Attend weekly department meeting if schedule allows
- Help host information tables at community events if needed
- Help assist with community engagement data and outreach

Organizational Relationships: Intern will be supervised by the Director of Community Engagement and will volunteer alongside staff from various departments.
Qualifications: This internship opportunity is open to any current college/university student seeking experience within their field of study and/or for academic credit hours (Speak with your University Department/College for qualification.) Preference for candidates with an area of study and/or personal passion for social services. The internship is not an offer of employment- either during the course of the internship or a promise of employment afterwards. In recognition of the intern’s efforts and costs, LMM is pleased to offer a $1,000 stipend payment paid in a lump sum following the successful completion of the internship. Interns, in accordance with LMM policies, may be subject to a pre-volunteer background check.
