Position Description: The primary responsibilities of the Safety Ambassador are to provide support to the Shelter Operations department of Lighthouse Mission Ministries. The Safety Ambassador will serve as the primary point of contact for emergency responses and safety threats, ensuring the well-being of residents, staff, and volunteers. This role is expected to uphold the Grace-based philosophy of Lighthouse Mission Ministries and incorporate the Core Values into operational practices.

Responsibilities:
- Respond to emergencies, including medical, behavioral, and facility-related incidents, using trauma-informed de-escalation.
- Participate in Neighborhood Advisory Group meetings to provide updates.
- Assist in developing and implementing emergency preparedness plans and training for staff and volunteers.
- Monitor security systems (e.g., cameras, alarms) and ensure proper functionality.
- Coordinate with law enforcement, EMS, and other agencies as needed.
- Conduct safety rounds and facilitate nightly bag checks.
- Support Program Staff with operations on varying shifts.
- Maintain accurate documentation and provide leadership with weekly updates. All documentation must align with LMM’s data privacy and confidentiality guidelines.
- Assist with data collection to identify safety trends and improve protocols.
- Communicate safety policies clearly to staff, volunteers, and residents.
- Participate in mandatory LMM training programs (e.g., Culture Camps, Narcan, CPR/CPI, trauma-informed care) to ensure alignment with organizational expectations.
- Pray with residents and staff as opportunities arise.
- Uphold Lighthouse Mission Ministries' core values in all duties.
Organizational Relationships:
- Works alongside a team of staff, volunteers, and interns.
- Represents LMM, specifically Base Camp, to other social service agencies.
- Reports directly to the Director of Shelter Operations.
Qualifications:
- Experience in social services, working with individuals experiencing homelessness, and/or in the rescue mission environment preferred.
- At least 1 year of experience operating in a security role within a residential setting. An unarmed Security Guard License is preferred.
- Bi-lingual candidates are preferred.
- Ability to demonstrate conflict resolution skills with the purpose of de-escalation. Required training provided by LMM.
- This role requires strong situational awareness, clear communication, and detailed documentation of safety-related events.
- Individuals must be organized and possess strong personal and professional boundaries.
- A passion for serving Jesus and making the Gospel known through mercy ministry. The successful candidate will have an active church/prayer life and agree with the Lighthouse Mission’s Statement of Faith and Personal Covenant.
- Able to use judgment to make independent decisions.
- Expectation to treat all individuals with dignity and respect, upholding LMM’s philosophy of care regardless of cultural background. Effective interpersonal communication skills-both written and oral

- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent education/ experience.
Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions:
- Ability to report as regularly scheduled to the work site and remain awake and alert during shift
