The Lion Brewery is dedicated to providing consistently high-quality specialty products and services to our contract packing customers, wholesalers, retail distributors, and especially our consumers!
We are a leading food manufacturer that seeks an experienced Quality Assurance Technician to work our 12-hour, 7pm-7am, AWW (2-2-3) work schedule.
Responsibilities:
- Design and execute laboratory testing according standard procedures, make observations and interpret findings
- Organize and store all chemicals substances, fluids and compressed gases according to safety instructions
- Record all data and results in specified forms (paper and electronic) with accuracy and responsibility
- Maintain equipment and assist in ordering laboratory supplies
- Ensure that all safety guidelines are followed strictly at all times and maintain a clean and orderly environment
- Support the Quality Manager by ensuring safety, product quality, and execution of food safety programs.
- Communicate with vendors, contractors, and key leadership team members.
- Gathers, documents, and analyzes data and prepares reports related to the production process
- Takes yeast concentration cell counts
- Samples tanks, vessels, bottles, and kegs for analytics and microbiological testing
- Performs PCR evaluations
- Tests tanks and packaged product for dissolved oxygen, carbonation, and fill height, when applicable
- Manages temperature and pressure of brewing tanks
- Ensures laboratory equipment is properly maintained and calibrated
- Maintains an organized and sanitary laboratory
- Performs various quality control improvement projects
- Complies with all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) as they apply to the employee’s specific job duties and the overall operations of the company
- Help ensure Food Safety Programs are being executed to standard and assist in improvements in Food Safety Programs.
- Follow and enforce GMP Policy.
- Document testing procedures, methodologies, or criteria.
- Review and revise inspection and testing criteria or procedures.
- Perform product testing activities throughout production process.
- Analyze test results and provide feedback and interpretation to production management.
- Performs internal audits.
- Participates in third party audits.
- Communicate and work with the production department to ensure product quality problems are addressed promptly.
- Review hold material.
- Ensure timely shipping of samples.
Qualifications:
- Professional presentation skills
- Positive, motivated, and self-directed
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment and have the ability to work independently.
- Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge/experience in the beverage industry a plus, including GMP’s, food safety, and HACCP.
- Previous experience in Quality, with experience in the food industry preferred.
- Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent experience in manufacturing required.
