Role Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Reading Teacher for a contract position to work with at-risk children. Our program provides reading interventions using The Literacy Project’s curriculum, aiming to transform literacy skills and foster a love for reading among students facing academic challenges. This role involves implementing The Literacy Project’s specialized curriculum to enhance reading skills in small group settings. Responsibilities:
· Tutor students in small group settings using The Literacy Project’s curriculum and reading tools.
· Conduct sessions onsite at KidWorks, focusing on enhancing phonetic skills and fostering a fun and interactive learning environment.
· Engage students in fun and educational activities to enhance their reading comprehension and fluency.
· Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting tutoring techniques as needed.
· Work with children reading below expected academic grade levels to improve overall reading proficiency.
· Maintain a supportive and encouraging atmosphere to boost students' self-confidence and promote lifelong reading habits.
· Collaborate with parents/guardians and staff to support students’ overall learning experience.
· Maintain detailed records of student attendance, progress, and achievements.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree and teaching credential (Preferred but not required).
· Experience in tutoring or teaching, especially with elementary or middle school-aged children.
· Bilingual proficiency is a plus.
· Access and ability to use an internet-based website portal for grading, tracking, and statistics.
· Proficiency in computer-generated documents required for management tasks.
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage students effectively and work collaboratively
