Summary

Responsibilities
- Act as a liaison between students, families, and educational institutions to address concerns and needs.
- Provide crisis intervention and conflict resolution support to students facing challenges.
- Assist families in navigating social services and educational resources effectively.
- Conduct assessments to identify student needs and develop individualized support plans.
- Collaborate with community organizations to enhance service delivery for students.
- Monitor student progress and adjust advocacy strategies as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of interactions and interventions for reporting purposes.
- Promote awareness of child welfare issues within the community.
Qualifications
- Associates degree in Social Work, Psychology, Child Development or a related field preferred.
- Proven experience in crisis intervention or conflict management with children or families.
- Strong understanding of child protective services and child welfare policies.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with students and families.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of people.
- Experience in social work or related fields is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with behavioral health concepts is a plus.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & JOB DUTIES: GENERAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Attend weekly staff meetings.
Work in a team environment and encourage open communication regarding concerns/issues with children, parents or co-workers.
Communicate with the Center Director daily.
Initiate and maintain positive relationships with school staff , after school staff, parents and students
Maintain accurate documentation of attendance, absences and emergency information on each child.
Build relationships with students and parents to be able to advocate for the well being of the child.
Build relationships and make referrals to community resources for the student's well being.
RESPONSIBILITIES WHEN INTERACTING WITH CHILDREN:
Consistently demonstrate positive interaction with all children;
Talk to them and treat them with dignity and respect
Consistently demonstrate positive discipline; teach and redirect rather than scolding or reprimanding them; firmly and consistently enforce the rules.
Express clear expectations and hold children accountable for adhering to them
Help children to develop a positive self-esteem and sense of self-worth
Consistently demonstrate and reinforce the values of caring, respect, honesty and responsibility
Introduce yourself to parents and communicate with them regularly regarding program information: schedule changes, permission slips
Communicate on a daily basis regarding the behavior of their children positive and negative Encourage parents to participate or volunteer in special events
Express appreciation for their interest in their child(s) participation in the program
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:
Must have the ability to demonstrate and/or show competency in the following areas: Supervising youth and presenting positive role modeling through all interactions with program participants.
To keep confidences, loyalties and practice professionalism
Be reliable and dependable
Work a flexible schedule to meet program staffing/planning needs.
Must pass CPR/AED/1st Aid certification and mandated reporter training by an approved provider within 3 months from original date of hire and maintain certification while employed.
Exercise mature judgment and sound decision making.
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
PROFESSIONAL EXPECTATIONS: The Student Advocate will present a competent and positive image of The Living Well Mission through the professional and safe coordination of all After School programming, quantified by completion of the key areas of responsibility and continuous improvement of the systems.

COMPENSATION: This is a grant funded position and will be reviewed each year.
Personnel policy governs work conditions and benefits. The first 90 days of employment are considered a trial period at which time performance will be evaluated by the Executive Director.
