*Job Summary*
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Cashier to join our team in a fast-paced retail environment at our organic grocery. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service while accurately processing transactions. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle cash and credit transactions effectively. A positive attitude and the ability to work well with others are essential for success in this position.
Hours for this position are generally M-F, 8am-4pm. Evening and weekend shifts required on occasion.
*Responsibilities*
- Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system to process customer transactions efficiently.
- Provide exceptional customer service by greeting customers, answering questions, and addressing concerns.
- Handle cash, credit, and check transactions accurately while maintaining a balanced cash drawer.
- Assist with stocking shelves and maintaining product displays to ensure a well-organized shopping environment.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth operations.
- Utilize retail math skills to assist customers with pricing inquiries and product information.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization at the checkout area and surrounding spaces.
- Support store promotions and sales initiatives by actively engaging customers.
*Qualifications*
- Previous experience in a cashier or customer service role is preferred.
- Familiarity with POS systems is a plus.
- Strong retail math skills to handle transactions accurately.
- Excellent phone etiquette for handling customer inquiries over the phone.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment while also being self-motivated.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with customers and staff.
- Experience in supervising or training team members is advantageous but not required.
