What are the responsibilities and job description for the Guest Service Agent position at The Lodge on Little St. Simons Island?
The Guest Services Agent is a full-time hourly position. This person is primarily responsible for taking reservations, interdepartmental communications, assisting guests at the front desk, and taking arriving guests on an orientation and tour of the property. They are integral to helping manage guest relations and guest satisfaction from the time of the reservation through the guest’s stay. They have a great deal of direct interaction with guests and serve as a point of contact should guests have any needs or issues.
Responsibilities
- Accountable for guest satisfaction by adhering to LSSI’s service standards.
- Answer phones and direct calls in a courteous and efficient manner.
- Assist callers with reservations inquiries and make reservations.
- Communicate with all departments any necessary information regarding guest needs.
- Greet arriving guests and give new guests an orientation of the property.
- Act as a primary guest contact throughout their stay to ensure satisfaction and resolve any issues that arise.
- Build relationships with repeat guests to create loyalty and encourage repeat visits.
- Create daily housekeeping, kitchen, and boat manifest reports.
- Help manage gift shop by ordering, organizing, and displaying inventory.
- Daily tidying in all front office areas.
- Maintain all print materials including guest welcome books ensuring that it is all current and restocked.
- This position is often required to give tours of our twenty acre Lodge Compound, and assist in other departments as needed, some of which require being on your feet for long stretches of time. Please be aware this is not your typical “desk job.”

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent. Some college preferred.
- Position works weekends.
- Minimum of one year of demonstrated relevant hospitality qualification or experience in a hotel, resort, or quality restaurant.
- LSSI adheres to a drug-free workplace; must be able to successfully complete background check and pre-employment drug screen.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to kneel, crouch, squat, climb, stand, sit, balance, reach, bend, push, pull and walk for prolonged periods.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English, both written and oral.
- Ability to ride a ferry to and from work every day
