Job Summary:
The primary purpose of the Medication Technician (“Med Tech”) is for maintaining a safe and secure delivery of medications and health related items to the residents within a community. The Med Tech assists in developing, coordinating, and performing the tasks on the service plan according to the resident’s preferences and abilities. The Medication Tech also oversees and monitors Care Partners
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Reads the Communication Log and Shower Schedule for information and changes at the beginning of each day. Documents in the Communication Log and provides progress notes, as appropriate throughout the day.
Assists residents with activities of daily living, environmental orientation, vital signs, first aid wound care, and communication with outside health care professionals.
Maintains current resident record for each resident including but not limited to, obtaining current physician orders, clarifying orders, and alert and monthly charting.
Orders, stores, and assists with medications according to community policy and procedure and current physician orders.
Maintains, transcribes, and documents in the Medication Assistance Record according to policy and procedure.
Maintains service plans and may participate in Service Plan reviews.
Documents care given and adheres to community policies and procedures.
Maintains clean, neat, comfortable, safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors including housekeeping duties as assigned. Assures door is alarmed at all times.
Reports deficiencies observed in resident apartments, clothing/linen, and community to Executive Director. Completes Incident Report form as needed for any unusual occurrence.
Observes and communicates any changes in resident physical or mental status as directed.
Is thoroughly familiar with fire, missing persons and other emergency procedures, follows community policy and procedures detailed in fire and disaster plans.
Avoids loss, breakage, and waste of supplies and equipment. Maintains a neat and orderly Medication Room. Assists residents with moving in or out as directed.
Provides guidance and instruction to Care Partners and other floor staff as needed.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Acts as the person in charge in the absence of the Executive Director and other managers/department heads.
Minimum Qualifications and Skills
Strong desire to work with the elderly.
English literate and with strong written and verbal communication skills.
Must demonstrate on an ongoing basis the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with co-workers and other departments.
Consistently demonstrates a pleasant demeanor, tone of voice, supports the philosophy and approach to care used by the Community.
Ability to multitask and willingness to learn.
Adheres to and conveys the philosophy of Assisted Living. Has awareness and practices in accordance with the regulations of the state.
Demonstrates knowledge of infection control and universal precautions.
Keeps resident information confidential, respects resident’s rights, respects privacy and right to self-determination of residents.
Capable of working overtime and alternate shifts as needed. This position may require work on evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Comes to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrates dependability and punctuality.
Must be able to pass a background check!

Pay: $15.50 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
