JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Manager
Department: Theater Staff
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Reports To: General Manager
Work Hours: Full-time, 40-hours minimum, occasional evenings, weekends
SUMMARY
The Manager is responsible for daily operations at the theater, and all duties and tasks delegated to them from the General Manager and Assistant General Manager (AGM). The Manager is responsible, under direction from the General Manager, for setting and keeping the workplace standards at the theater for all staff working there, setting the example for effectiveness, efficiency, a strong work ethic, team work, and respect and courtesy to all in the workplace, including members of the public, volunteers, patrons and other staff.
The Manager is responsible for leading the theater team, including projectionists as needed. The Manager is responsible for mastering knowledge of all theater programming and operational needs and systems. The Manager will be required to act as Manager on Duty (MOD) when they are the sole manager in the building.
This position requires onsite work and is not eligible for remote arrangements. Working hours will include evenings, weekends, and holidays and may also be performed offsite or in outdoor environments.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES
- Assists in training for new employees for all positions, ensuring new staff understand their job duties and have the resources and tools they need to perform them
- Ensures theatre staff has the training and tools needed to be successful in their jobs, including instructions, guidance, coaching, and correction as needed.
- Handles all matters related to the Point of Sale (POS) system, including troubleshooting, engage with the vendor as needed, and ensures it is functional for daily transactions.
- Ensures all standards and policies are being followed and enforced
- Provides excellent customer service to all guests, customers, and members throughout their experience at the Loft and ensures that all theater staff maintain the highest quality of customer service.
OTHER JOB DUTIES
- Respond to all issues in the theater in a timely manner.
- Communicate with co-workers, customers, and donors who email the theater.
- Support theater staff, as needed, in completing job duties necessary for health, safety and cleanliness in the theater and its premises.
- Oversight for closing procedures, including deposits and daily audits.
- Digital Film Projection (as needed – requires separate training)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Current Arizona Driver's License
- Some management or supervisor experience
- Able to obtain certification, according to Arizona liquor laws and food handling
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Some college coursework completed
- 1 year or more of management experience in a retail, commercial, or service environment
- Direct experience supervising others

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job is performed under general office and theater conditions, and may include exposure to outdoor or offsite working conditions on occasion.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This job is a HEAVY duty job, as defined by the Social Security Administration, CFR § 404.1567. Physical exertion requirements: (d) Heavy work. Heavy work involves lifting no more than 100 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds. If someone can do heavy work, we determine that he or she can also do medium, light, and sedentary work.
