ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF DIETARY AIDES:
- Aide all food functions as directed/instructed and in accordance with established food policies and procedures.
- Review, prepare & serve meals in accordance with planned menus with standardized recipes & special diet orders.
- Prepare & serve residents nutritional bedtime snacks as well as substitute foods for residents who refuse foods served.
- Ensure food, etc., is prepared in accordance with sanitary regulations.
- Ensure the department is maintained in a clean & safe manner by assuring necessary equipment & supplies are maintained.
- Ensure the facility’s standards on Infection Control Precautions are followed when performing daily tasks.
- Perform dishwashing/cleaning procedures assuring that utensils, etc., are readily available for next meal.
- Prepare & deliver food carts and trays to designated areas.
- Serve food and drinks in the dining room.
- Sweeo and mop floors in the kitchen/dish room.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR DIETARY AIDES:
- Some food handling experience
- Basic awareness/knowledge of sanitation practices as it relates to food preparation
- Experience in a long-term care facility preferred
- Compassion and tolerance for older adults
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
