SUMMARY:
The Shipping/Receiving Clerk performs clerical and physical tasks in connection with shipping.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Process material in accordance with applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and process manuals.
- Ensure shipments are properly packaged, labeled with shipping information, staged for transport, and loaded onto transporting vehicles as required.
- Prepare and retain records of material, e.g., manifests, bills of lading, commercial invoices, etc.
- Sort and/or in-check material based on priority type to meet established APLs.
- Prepare finished products for shipment or storage by placing them in appropriate shipping containers, utilizing proper dunnage to prevent breakage or damage, and IAW packaging guidelines.
- Verify the accuracy of incoming shipments by comparing items and quantities against bills of lading, invoices, manifests, storage receipts, or other records IAW DLA SOPs.
- Review and prioritize work requests, shipping documents, material release, and movement orders based on required delivery dates, lot and contract number, special handling, destination, and type of storage or shipment.
- Prepare required reports resulting from receipt examination and identification findings.
- Review documentation for accuracy and quality prior to submission to the on-site government representative.
- Apply various methods and techniques for investigating, analyzing, and effecting corrective action on supply problems using a thorough knowledge of quality characteristics, measurement and testing techniques and skill.
- Ensure proper management of material IAW Shelf-Life Program is being carried out on all receipted or shipped materials.
- Perform visual and technical evaluations of new procurement, non-procurement, retrograde items and other types of incoming shipments for damage, quantity, documentation, completeness, and modifications, packing, packaging, preservation, marking (PPP&M) and other requirements as required in the appropriate contract purchase order, or delivery order and military specifications.
- Reports discrepancies to appropriate agencies.
- Perform PPP&M IAW applicable SOPs and process manuals.
- Performs a variety of housekeeping functions inside and outside the warehouse/work site.
- Support and participate in the company’s Continuous Improvement Process (CIP) and Quality Assurance Program
- (QAP) to ensure superior customer service to all depots and customers.
- Follow strict procedures to include but not limited to all company policies, procedures, and/or established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Employees will be required to work overtime as needed to meet the contractual obligations in support of established APLs.
- Operate material handling equipment (MHE) such as pallet jacks, motorized forklifts, and tugs.
- Utilizes hand/power tools including but not limited to screwdrivers, crowbars, hammers, and power drills.
- Follows all federal OSHA guidelines and base/company safety and occupational health plans.
- Able to follow all local/base policies and/or regulations.

- This position supports the DOD on a federal installation and the candidate must be available to work at the assigned physical location during business hours.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Essential:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1-2 years of related experience.
- Must be adaptable, flexible, and able to adjust to new or changing instructions.
- Must be able to multitask and complete assignments accurately and on time.
- Must have the ability to multitask and demonstrate attention to detail.
- Must be reliable, responsible, and able to fulfill obligations.
- Must be skilled in material handling equipment and hand truck operation.

Ability to read, comprehend and explain instructions, letters, memos, emails, and correspondence from inside the organization as well as from external sources. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Required to walk, stand, sit and move about the property for long periods of time. Perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling material. Must have the ability to work indoors or outdoors in bad weather. Handle equipment/supplies weighing 30 pounds individually and occasionally items weighing more than 50 pounds with assistance. Must possess visual acuity to review written documentation; ability to hear and understand speech at normal room levels and on the telephone. Wearing of safety equipment (PPE) Personal Protective Equipment is required during all periods of exposure to hazardous conditions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/HOURS:
This position is not eligible for remote work, as the essential functions of the role require the employee to perform duties on-site. May be exposed to inclement/extreme weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment may vary from moderate to high, depending on location. Job will require working flexible hours, sometimes under short notice, to accommodate for mission requirements to include weekends and holidays. Overtime may be required.
