What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Medical Technologist - Evening (2nd) Shift position at The loretto Hospital?
The Lead Medical Technologist is responsible for performing clinical testing on patient specimens originating from all age specific groups of in-patients, out-patients and employees of the hospital. He / She provides daily direction to other laboratory staff regarding laboratory workload, policies, procedures, and recommends adjustments to staffing, policies and procedures. The Lead Medical Technologist serves as a consult for test performance and technical problems. In addition, this individual also provide leadership in a Technical, Education, or Quality Assurance capacity. The Lead Medical Technologist motivates, coordinates and supports staff to ensure quality results are reported in a timely manner. They assure that all remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications and that patient test results are not reported until all corrective actions have been taken and the test system is properly functioning. Incumbent operates under the Director of the Clinical Laboratory.
JOB REQUIREMENTS :
Minimum Requirements :
- Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science or medical technology from an accredited institution with at least four years of laboratory training and / or experience in high complexity testing.
- Associate degree in laboratory science (chemical or biological science) or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution with at least six (6) years of clinical laboratory experience in high complexity testing.
