What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intern, Nutrition (Training Camp) position at The Los Angeles Rams?
Role Overview:
The training camp nutrition intern is responsible for assisting the team dietitian with fueling practices related to players, coaches, and staff, managing inventory of fueling stations, coordinating with the culinary team, assisting with pre-season gameday fueling, and will function as an extension of the team's nutrition program to optimize fueling and performance of athletes. This individual must be able to collaborate in a team environment and work in conjunction with members of the performance staff. Additionally, this individual will be expected to work within the entire organization on an as-needed basis on other performance and operational-related deliverables.
Note: This internship is anticipated to be 7-8 weeks from mid-July through early September
Role Responsibilities:
- Oversee inventory of snacks and functional beverages in fueling stations throughout the layout of training camp: create par counts, restock, and maintain good relationship with training camp staff.
- Organize and distribute pre and post lift, practice, and game nutrition.
- Assist with hydration testing and hydration strategies.
- Assist with hydration and fueling tactics at practices and pre-season games.
- Maintain cleanliness of fueling stations.
- Assist caterers/vendors with daily needs.
- Coordinate special meal requests.
- Creation of educational materials.
- Other duties as assigned.
Role Qualifications (Skills/Experience/Capabilities):
- Currently enrolled in, or graduated from, a study in nutrition, health science, or dietetic related field. (RD preferred, but not required)
- One year of experience working in sports nutrition for intercollegiate or professional athletics/sports-related field (experience working in American football preferred)
- Interested in learning about sports nutrition for high level athletes.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and have a flexible schedule as needed.
- Ability to work up to 30 hours of overtime per week.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated, positive attitude, and great work ethic.
- Consistent respectful and professional attitude.
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Pay Rate: $17.28/hr.
