Director of Alumni Engagement

Reports to: Chief Advancement Officer

Primary Responsibilities:

Alumni Relations:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to engage and connect with a diverse alumni base of over 8,000 individuals, supporting the School’s mission.
  • Foster and maintain meaningful relationships with alumni to ensure ongoing engagement with Lovett.
  • Collaborate with reunion planning committees, volunteers, and Lovett’s Communications team to create impactful opportunities for class year representatives in the planning, outreach, and cultivation processes.

Event Management:

  • Plan and coordinate a variety of alumni events, including reunions, networking receptions, speaker series, and volunteer initiatives.
  • Develop both short-term and long-term strategic plans for alumni engagement, ensuring alignment and success for each event and activity.
  • Oversee alumni volunteer activities, including the identification, recruitment, and engagement of members for key alumni leadership groups, such as the Alumni Executive Board, Black Alumni Council, Golden Lions Steering Committee, and other class-based leadership initiatives.

Data Management and Reporting:

  • Monitor and assess the effectiveness of alumni engagement through key metrics such as event attendance, participation rates, and alumni feedback.
  • Utilize CRM systems, databases, and relevant software to manage and analyze alumni data and engagement trends.
  • Prepare and deliver regular reports to leadership, providing insights on alumni engagement performance, trends, and opportunities for improvement.

Position Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university, with several years of progressively responsible experience in advancement, communications, or public relations. Supervisory experience is preferred.
  • A strong understanding of the School’s mission and values, with the ability to leverage this knowledge to shape a strategic vision for alumni engagement.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including effective conversational abilities, active listening, and a consistently positive demeanor.
  • Confident public speaking skills, with the ability to deliver clear, mission-driven messages to both small and large audiences.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, with a demonstrated ability to plan, collaborate, and work effectively with both internal teams and external partners.
  • Proven ability to handle confidential constituent and school information with discretion.
  • Flexibility to work outside of regular business hours as needed to support job-related functions and events.
  • A proven ability to use data to drive engagement, enhance outcomes, and guide informed decision-making.
