What are the responsibilities and job description for the US Assistant Gymnastics Coach 2025 position at The Lovett School?
Reports to: Head Gymnastics Coach; Director of Athletics and Physical Education
Primary Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Head Gymnastics Coach to develop and implement a comprehensive gymnastics program for athletes at all levels (JV and Varsity), fostering a positive and inclusive team culture that reflects the school’s mission and values.
- Assist in planning and leading practices, focusing on skill development, conditioning, teamwork, and safety.
- Provide individualized feedback and support to student-athletes to help them achieve personal and team goals.
- Participate in the evaluation and selection process for team placement, using criteria established by the Head Coach.
- Serve as a mentor and role model for student-athletes, promoting sportsmanship, integrity, and respect on and off the mat.
- Help manage equipment setup, maintenance, and storage to ensure a safe and efficient training environment.
- Contribute to strategy and routine planning during competitions, supporting athletes in delivering their best performances.
- Build strong relationships with students, parents, and the broader school community, acting as an ambassador for the gymnastics program.
- Stay updated on Georgia High School Association (GHSA) regulations to ensure program compliance.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Gymnastics Coach or Athletic Department.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in gymnastics (as a coach, athlete, or in a related capacity).
- Strong knowledge of gymnastics techniques, skills, and safety practices.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with the Head Coach and other staff members.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Dedication to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for student-athletes.
- Availability to attend after-school practices, competitions, and related events as scheduled.
- Preferred availability is Monday through Friday, from 4:00 PM to 5:30/6:00 PM, but candidates with more limited availability on select days are encouraged to apply.
- Willingness to actively contribute to the school community and uphold its mission and values.
This is a part-time position requiring flexibility, enthusiasm, and a passion for working with high school student-athletes in a dynamic and supportive educational setting.
