Description
The Assistant Controller is entrusted to aid the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in Club, НОА, Realty & Foundation responsibilities and to be the responsible resource in the absence of the CFO. Responsible to keep accurate records, aid in establishing procedures to ensure proper internal controls, and to maintain a high level of integrity in the operation. The Assistant Controller supports and works closely with the CFO to generate and analyze the Club, HOA, Foundation and Realty records and reports. This position supervises the accounting staff.
Assure timely and accurate recording of all transactions.
Prepare timely monthly and annual financial statements, reports and tax filings
Assist in preparation of annual budget and forecasts.
Assist in variance analyses of actual results to budget and prior year.
Oversee accounting department and staff including, but not limited to, Accounting Administrative Assistant, Accounts Receivable Specialist, Accounts Payable Specialist, and Accounting Manager Oversee Member Collections, Cash Management, Inventories, Fixed Assets, etc.
Coordinate with and assist in the annual external audit process.
Assist in the annual budget process.
Assist with the preparation, maintenance, and valuation of Club & HOA equity bond values.
Oversee the accurate accounting of fixed assets.
Additional tasks as assigned by the CFO.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
1. Maintain accuracy of all books and records relating to the general and overall nature of the Club including member and financial books and records.
2. Assist CFO with coordination of internal and external audits, creating and maintaining accounting policies and procedures, and maintaining accounting and audit controls for all operations.
3. Assist in management of various spreadsheets, ensuring accuracy and reconciliation.
4. Assist in overseeing all Accounting Department functions.
5. Back up for payroll processing and distribution.
6. Assist with the preparation of required government reports, returns, and taxes, including monthly sales tax return and payments.
7. Assist in the creation and posting of journal entries necessary for the preparation of financial statements.
8. Assist with the preparation and distribution of financial statements and analysis. Working with CFO to develop financial goals and plans.
9. Preparation of various reports and analyses for management review.
10. Work with CFO, General Manager, and department heads in budget preparation and budget monitoring.
11. Assist in the management of cash accounts, cash requirements, transfer of funds, and overall general maintenance.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Able to stand, walk and work long hours between rest periods.
2. Able to reach, bend, climb, grasp, kneel, push, pull, and twist as needed.
3. Must speak, read, and write English in a clear and concise manner.
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS AND PREFERENCES:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
Five (5) or more years of accounting experience, and at least two (2) years supervisory experience required.
Proven knowledge in accounting policies and procedures, annual audit, financial management and financial reporting functions required.
Working knowledge of Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Outlook) with advanced knowledge of Excel.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Experience maintaining the highest standards for integrity and personal and professional excellence.
Knowledge of accounting software packages required; JONAS accounting package preferred. Country Club experience a plus.
Salary : $85,000 - $100,000
