Position Summary
As a member of TLM's Design Engineering organization, you will contribute to the development and test of machine centers critical to the operation of a sawmill. You will be the key link between design and execution. Our Mississippi-based Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for ensuring comprehensive and safe assembly and test of TLM’s machine centers. You will work closely with design engineers to ensure components can be made or sourced and all elements of the design can come together according to the design intent. You will then guide operations through assembly and test while gathering critical data and performing pertinent analysis.
Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with design engineers to understand design intent and translate that into assembly and test procedures
- Work collaboratively with TLM’s operations team to assemble and test machine centers
- Participate in design reviews and provide manufacturability feedback
- Design fixtures that will aid in the assembly or measurement process
- Capture and organize data from machine center verification testing
- Provide component and assembly quality inspection
- Champion root cause and corrective action investigations as needed
- Provide regular updates to cross-functional partners
- Lead cost initiatives across all elements of the machine center design, including but not limited to material selection, manufacturing processes, quality, assembly, and maintenance
