What are the responsibilities and job description for the Billing Coordinator position at The Lutheran Home at Kane?
Completes all billing functions of the facilities in accordance with all Federal, State and Local regulatory agencies, acceptable accounting rules, and all binding contracts. Maintain records in accordance with acceptable accounting and cost reimbursement principles. Insures accounts receivable are collected in a timely manner. Records receipts, submits invoices, notifies individuals of outstanding accounts, reports discrepancies to the Director of Finance, and assists residents and/or family members with Medical Assistance and Medicare applications and billing issues.
· Must have a minimum of one-year previous experience and/or education in accounting (emphasis on billing Medicare, Medical Assistance, and Insurance Companies
· Working knowledge of state and federal regulations for long term care facility and assist in emergency situations
· Must be willing to comply with regulations, policies, procedures, contracts and philosophy of the facility
· Must maintain CONFIDENTIALITY
· Must stay up to date with current regulations and changes related to Billing.
· Maintain accurate policy and procedure manual for billing/receivable department
· Assist Administration during inspections, surveys, etc.
· Attend departmental and committee meetings, in-services and seminars as required
· Notify residents and family members of changes in billing, rates, etc.
· Maintain applications for credentialing/re-credentialing with insurance companies.
· Assists residents and family members in applying for benefits, submitting claims, determining insurance coverage, etc.
· Work reception desk as needed
