What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hotel Security Guard | Overnight Sunday & Monday position at The Madison Concourse Hotel?
Job Summary: The Part Time Security Guard will assist in the overall security of the hotel, keeping foremost in mind the protection of the hotel and its property. Assist in ensuring the safety and protection of all guests and employees. Tour, inspect, and observe all areas of the hotel and grounds (interior and exterior). Handle any and all guest injuries, accidents, losses, and incidents that occur during the course of the shift. Observe and report any employee matters that fall under a security jurisdiction.
Status: Part Time (24 hours or less)
Hours: 11:00 PM-7:00 AM Sunday and Monday; some flexibility to be pick up extra shifts as needed preferred.
Pay: $20-$22 per hour, depending on experience
Additional duties, responsibilities, and accountability:
- Conduct regular inspections of key areas such as guest floors, service areas, and back of house facilities to identify and address any security vulnerabilities.
- Monitor and patrol the hotel premises, including common areas, entrances, stairwells, and parking facilities, to prevent and detect any unauthorized activities or potential security risks.
- Respond promptly and effectively to all security-related incidents reported by the hotel staff via telephone or radio, including disturbances, medical emergencies, and fire alarms, following established protocols and procedures.
- Maintain a visible and approachable presence, providing a sense of security and reassurance to guests and team members.
- Provide exceptional customer service, assisting guests with inquiries, directions, and any security related concerns they may have.
- Maintain an effective and professional working relationship with other hotel departments and employees.
- Escort guests/employees to vehicles as necessary after daylight hours, or for health or medical reasons.
- Operate and monitor security systems, access control systems, and alarm systems, ensuring their proper functionality and initiating appropriate actions in case of any irregularities.
- Conduct precise investigations of all guest or employee accidents, damage, loss, or incidents. File reports on all of the above situations.
- Provide first aid assistance to injured guests as necessary until medical attention can be provided.
- Assist in the control of pedestrian traffic through all hotel entrances, as business dictates.
- Monitor employee serving of intoxicants to customers, to ensure compliance with state and local ordinances.
- Intervene in guest/employee or guest/guest confrontations in a calming, professional manner to ensure guest and/or employee safety.
- Maintain a cooperative relationship with local law enforcement agencies.
- Be willing and able to testify or provide assistance to the hotel’s legal representation during investigation or litigation proceedings.
- Secure all areas of the property after business or functions conclude.
- Assist in any department that is in need, to assist business or guests.
- Record areas in need of repair or cleaning, as found during tours of the property, on the appropriate forms.
- Review previous security reports, Night Manager reports, and Front Office reports to keep abreast of matters concerning hotel business.
- Complete at least three tours of the property during the shift, covering all areas listed on the security report.
- Complete weekly inspections of the fire extinguishers and first aid kits. File the appropriate forms.
- Comply with all other tasks deemed necessary by management.
- Comply with all aspects of the current Employee Handbook.
Qualifications:
- Valid Driver's License required.
- Previous experience in Security, Law Enforcement, or a similar role is strongly preferred
- Some college or Police Science courses preferred
- CPR certified, first aid certificate desired
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and efficiently overnight
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift and move heavy objects when required
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with guests and fellow team members
- Ability to handle challenging situations with professionalism, maintaining composure and making sound decisions under pressure
- A positive attitude, reliability, and genuine passion for providing outstanding customer service
