What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer camp position at The Malvern Day Camp?
The Arts & Crafts Camp Specialist is responsible for the development and delivery of an engaging Arts and Crafts counselor program that is appropriate to all summer campers’ age and abilities (5-14 years old).
The hours of this full-time, seasonal position are from 8 : 30am-4 : 30pm, Monday through Friday. Malvern Day Camp runs from May 19th to late August 2025.
There will be a mandatory training session before camp begins.
Responsibilities
- Planning and implementation of Arts & Crafts programs for certain age groups
- Design and implement daily arts and crafts projects that are varied, enjoyable and engaging for our campers.
- Encourage campers’ self-expression through arts and crafts.
- Maintain involvement in programs, including : planning, facilitating, set-up, clean-up and preparation of materials
- Design and deliver arts and crafts activities that make use of different art mediums, make use of the camp’s natural environment, and use the art resources most efficiently
- Meet with supervisor regularly to plan weekly schedule of activities and ensure the schedule is followed
- Follow the Malvern Day Camp policies and procedures
- Keep inventory of supplies
- Submit orders for equipment and supplies when needed
Requirements
- Desire and ability to work with children outdoors
- Experience in designing and supervising the making of decorations for special events.
- Previous experience working with children, examples include but not limited to : tutoring, camp counselor, youth volunteer, or classroom assistant
- Provide fun, educational and safe activities for campers
- Upkeep of Arts & Crafts equipment
- Work effectively with co-workers
- Serve as a positive role model to campers
- Minimum of 18 years of age
- Current First Aid and CPR Certification (The Malvern School provides and pays for, if needed)
- Completed Background Checks (FBI, Child Abuse, Criminal)
